Forest Bathing, Burnout Recovery and Rejuvenation at VanVaas
Three slower days of deodar forest walks, waterfall trails, quiet reflection and creative renewal at VanVaas in Soyal Village.
THE EXPERIENCE
Find room to slow down.
The historical YoloO Life Forest Bathing retreat was designed for slow travellers, artists and changemakers seeking space to pause in the deodar forest around Soyal Village. It combines guided walks, mindful attention, quiet reflection, journaling or sketching, and time near streams and waterfalls.
The original itinerary introduces Kinhin (walking meditation) and a dedicated 'Rest of Awareness' period: time to observe, create or simply be present without a crowded schedule. Village encounters, orchards, forest trails and seasonal local food connect the experience to its setting.
This is a nature-led restorative holiday, not a medical treatment for burnout. The programme below follows the original three-day source and must be reconfirmed for each new edition according to weather, guide availability and group needs.

Day 1 — Arrive at your forest sanctuary
The source begins with a welcome in Patlikuhal and a journey towards Soyal Village, with a visit to the village setting and Rishi Jamdagni Temple. Follow a short nature trail to VanVaas, settle among the orchards and deodar trees, and enjoy time by the stream. After lunch, a silent guided walk inspired by Kinhin focuses attention on each step and breath. The evening is reserved for reflection, sketching, conversation or a shared bonfire where the edition and weather allow.
Day 2 — Deodar forest, waterfalls and mindful attention
Start with a quiet walk, journaling or creative observation. The historical itinerary explores the deodar forest and visits Crystal Falls and Troy’s Waterfall, with a picnic when conditions allow. The source also proposes learning about seasonal wild edibles from local knowledge holders; any such activity must be led by an appropriately qualified guide, with no independent foraging. Return for Rest of Awareness: unstructured time to read, sketch, reflect or rest.
Day 3 — A slower farewell
Enjoy breakfast and one last quiet period in the forest before walking back towards Soyal Village. The original YoloO programme suggests an optional stop at Old Manali cafés and shops before onward travel. Transfers, meals outside the retreat and any town visit are subject to confirmed edition arrangements; no fixed departure time is promised.
For slow travellers, artists and guests looking for quieter time outdoors. The source grades the historical programme easy, but forest trails and waterfall approaches can be uneven. Guests should be comfortable with gentle walks and share accessibility needs before booking. This is not clinical burnout treatment.
Bring comfortable layers, warm clothing, rain protection, walking shoes with grip, sun protection, water, a daypack and personal medication. A notebook or sketchbook is useful. Follow guide instructions around streams, waterfalls and seasonal plants.
The original retreat was based at VanVaas in Soyal Village and described a two-night shared stay. Current room category, occupancy, meal plan and any included accommodation must be confirmed for each new edition; no alternative lodge or additional nights are assumed.
